Guest Reviews for The Cornflowers Holiday Cottage 2012 - 2018

Pebble Art on the beach at La Tranche sur Mer
The Craig & Jordan Families, Sheffield & Norfolk, May/June 2018. Written by Tristan, Aged 10.
I really enjoyed my stay and mostly enjoyed the Wii. My friend Stanley enjoyed playing Lego Star Wars. We used the paints and it was very fun. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy the really comfy beds. The surrounding towns were really fun to visit, and I feel as though it was my second home. My personal favourite game on the Wii was carnival.
Your holiday cottage gets an infinite number of stars from me!
Also the pool was brilliant and my three year old friend (Patrick) learnt how to jump in! Thank you for everything!
PS: We had a very warm welcome.

Our second visit here and we've had an amazing 2 weeks, mostly due to the weather!
Lots of wonderful pool days and we all enjoyed the waves at Les Conches.
O'Gliss was a BIG hit again.

The Scarf & Jarvis Families, Shipston on Stour. July 2018
Lovely stay - very hot weather, BBQ, Pool & visits.
O'Gliss Water Park - kids loved.

The Maddison Family, Co. Galway. June 2018
Very relaxing holiday, great weather & the pool was well used. Spent most days enjoying the house & pool. Our favourite boulangerie was the 2nd one on the road to Luçon. Good value eating out at lunchtime - set menu at Auberge du Moulin & Auberge de la Plaine (in St Gemme La Plaine).
Lovely evening meal at Au Fils des Saisons, just outside Luçon, very friendly (& english speaking!).
Puy du Fou not to be missed. O'Gliss Water Park also good (but arrive early in high season)
But it was hard to drag ourselves away from the garden and pool!

This is our 3rd visit here and what a wonderful stay we have had. Perfect weather and some excellent visits to the beach. We loved the Ile de Ré and cycling around the island. Loved the markets and fantastic meal at the Court d'Aron Restaurant.
Fantastic accommodation here and just love it.
We'll be back. Many thanks.

The Cornflowers was great! The pool was refreshing and really nice. The house was spacious and felt like home. We went to the Puy du Fou and that was great – a ‘Must do’ day. La Tranche is a recommendation from us as well. I thought the garden was beautiful too. It has been a great holiday. Thank you Cornflowers!

The Cockmans & friends. Burbage. August 2017
Pool well used as weather was beautiful. House comfortable – some of the comfiest beds we’ve slept in in France.
Puy du Fou an hour away – stunning – worth the long day. La Rochelle – lovely for an evening, as is the L’Aubraie restaurant only 10 minutes away – river setting.
All in all – Fab 2 weeks.
The Whalen Family, Elsmere. August 2017
The Cornflowers is nice and it is beautiful and magical. We love the house. We spend most of our time by the pool and if anybody is reading this that’s new!
The Cornflowers is magical because there’s a fairy garden and last year we came here because all of the Whalen’s love cornflowers!
We had a lovely time at La Rochelle and the weather was ☺️
Thank you very much – Annette, you’re the best!

We have had such a wonderful girls holiday. What a perfect place to stay and so comfortable. It really is a beautiful holiday home. We have so enjoyed our days by the pool but equally enjoyed our days out to the Ile de Ré, Luçon and the beach.
Food has been delicious, rooms comfortable – what more can we say – perfect. We’ll be back!

I have fallen in love with The Cornflowers. Everything one could ask for. Lazy afternoons spent by the pool, local area to walk. Luçon market provided some fabulous artisan foods and two great day trips to La Tranche and the Ile de Ré – so worth a visit!

Jodie Redden, Northamptonshire. July 2017
Lovely lazy week spent in this beautiful house with great friends. Food sourced from the market at Luçon and a fabulous meal out at St Cyr en Talmondais. Visit to the Ile de Ré – hired bikes and relaxed in the town’s many restaurants! Will be back again.

Kirsten Knight, Northumberland. July 2017
Such a beautiful house with so much care, thought and imagination put into the décor and furnishings. Everything was perfect! Luçon market provided delicious lunches and suppers, excellent local wines and cheeses. Cycled at the ile de Ré, visited La Tranche sur Mer and enjoyed fields of sunflowers. Our time lazing around the pool and sitting in the sun was fabulous! See you again soon Cornflowers!
The Market at La Faute
The Maidment Family, Bedford. June 2017
We have had a really lovely holiday. Weather & pool were perfect for the first week; low temperatures and rain during the second week, but this dd not stop the fun.
Particularly enjoyed Sunday market at La Faute sur Mer, La Rochelle and the Ile Noirmoutier (Splendid Friday Market)
House comfortable, found everything that we needed.
Thank you for a great time, we loved the house & saw the Hoopoe in our first week!

Cornflowers did not disappoint! We have been counting dow the days since we booked last year and are truly sad that our week is nearly over. We found The Cornflowers to be excellently furnished and stocked very thoughtfully to meet all our needs (even ones we didn’t realise we had) We had a great day out at Puy du Fou. If you plan on going - leave early to make the most of your day. Our daily croissant runs were an essential part of our stay and we (after careful market research) would recommend the boulangerie at Beugné l’Abbé. We enjoyed stocking up in French essentials for our return at the huge LeClerc in Luçon which has a useful children’s playwark for a quick run around. We liked Arcais a lot if you are planning a visit to the Venise Verte - Marais Poitevin.

Beautiful house and pool. Thanks for arranging the weather! It was really hot & sunny every day.
Lots of places to visit. Our favourite was La Tranche. Eating there was excellent!!
Gill, Steve, James, Kathryn, Jake & Niamh. Leeds. August/September 2015.
Lovely house, great pool, noisy neighbours at No. 3.
Weather stays fine.
Visited many places, but by far the best was Les Sables d’Olonne.
Eating out is quite expensive.

Owners Reply: Not sure why the neighbours were noisy - they are a retired couple and you usually don’t hear a peep from them!
There is a wide variety of restaurants in the area - ranging from those that offer a set 3 or 4 course menu at lunchtimes from as little as 12 Euros per person, right up to elaborate seafood dishes with lobster and crab! Eating out at Les Sables d’Olonne can be slightly more expensive as it is a tourist town that attracts a lot of wealthy tourists from Paris!
Peter, Amy, Jodie, Jackson, Jed & Joey. Gloucestershire. August 2015.
Lovely weather. The pool is awesome.
Great places NOT to miss: Les Sables, La Rochelle, La Tranche sur Mer, La Faute sur Mer. (go to the forest end - not the tacky town end)
Places to avoid: La Terriere, Indian Forest, Fontenay le Comte.
The Gallienne Family, Guernsey. July 2015
Great house to stay in.
We made two visits to Puy du Fou. First visit was to watch the main night show - this was amazing. Would highly recommend.
Also took a trip down to the lovely La Rochelle.
Had lots of lazy days by the pool which the children loved.

Idyllic setting for a very peaceful stay.(would have been quite different if our daughter, son-in-law & family had been able to make it as planned!)
Love the gite and all it has to offer - very thoughtful!
Would definitely come again.

The File Family, Hythe. September/October 2014
Great location and gite, lucky with the weather! Would love to come again.

Fabulous time, Fabulous weather! Everything we needed at the house and superb location too. We all loved the pool.
Great days out at La Tranche sur Mer and La Terrière. Beautiful scenery/coastline at Talmont Saint Hilaire. Our favourite beach by far, especially for body boarding, was Les Conches - as recommended by the fabulous gardener!
Excellent having Annette only a phone call away. We really hope to return. A big thank you from all of us.
The Robinsons, Deal. August 2014
Lovely house. Had a great week both here and at the beaches. There are some great eating places at La Tranche.
Kids loved having their own pool - really had a hard time getting them out!
The Edwards, Northampton. August 2014

We recommend Luçon market, the beach at La Tranche-sur-Mer and La Rochelle for the harbour and town centre.
The Beach at La Tranche sur Mer
The Parkers, Nottingham. May 2014

Thanks for a great week. The kids loved the pool. We had some fantastic cycle rides between here and the coast. The Indian Forest was brilliant and we spent a long day climbing and bunging there. The Auberge du Moulin just up the road was welcoming and great food. Spent several happy days in and around La Tranche sur Mer, including excellent wind surfing tuition from Julien at Wave
School, and really good body boarding at La Terrière.
One piece of advice - check opening times of shops and restaurants very carefully as we have been caught out several times!
(From the owner - a lot of smaller shops still close for lunch, and many restaurants are shut on a Monday. )

Lovely home, great pool, equipped with everything you need!
Great places to visit are: La Rochelle - hire bikes for free for 2 hours. Marans - good to hire boats on the river. La Tranche beach good or rock pooling (at low tide). Boat trips from La Rochelle to see Fort Boyard. Ile de Ré. Also, Luçon market is good for local produce and food.
The Mingay Family, Cardiff. August 2013
Lush house. Brilliant location - amazing cycling!
Recommend La Rochelle - the market there is really sweet. Pool is fantastic! The best holiday house no doubt about it - the pool is amazing. Well worth a visit to the café by the river in Lavaud. Also, the best French kitchen we've ever used! Weather was sunny all 14 days (first time that's ever happened in 13 years!)
